 Cardinal and Ordinal Numbers



Cardinal numbers are use to express the quantity.
Ex:- two dogs are barking outside .

Ordinal numbers are refer to show the position of some one or something in series .

Ex:- She was the first in the class.

Examples for ordinal numbers are,
        First 
        Second 
        Third

Some indefinite pronouns are also considered as determiners..
Ex:-  somebody
         some one
         Nobody 
         None
         Everybody/Everyone/all
         Anyone
         Anybody 
         Something
         Nothing 
         Each
         Other

More examples for quantifiers.

         Little 
         A little 
         Few
         A few
         Both
         Either

  •  Little / A Little
"little/A little" use before uncountable nouns.
Ex:- There is a little tea in the tea pot.
        She ate a little rice.
        I have a little puppy .

  •  A few / Few
We use "A few and few"before countable nouns. Few means not many.
Ex:- few people buy new cars.
        I saw a few people at the shop.
        I buy few eggs today.
        There are 35 girls, few girls are present today.
  • Both
Ex:- Both of the girls study friends.
        I like both the t-shirts.
        I saw two men at the park both were wearing a coat.
  • Either / Neither
If we have two people or two things and we need to refer one person or a thing,we should use "either".

Ex:- I like either of the two t-shirts.
        He has two houses.so he can live in either of them.
        I like neither mala or sumana.
        I like neither apple or orange.

  • Each / Every / All
"Each" and "every" show a number of people and things considered individually.we use "each"for a small number."Every" is not use for very small numbers.

Ex:- He gave each toffee.
        Every pasenger in the bus was checked.
        The shops was burnt last night. every article in the shops was damage.
        All student are present today.
  • Many / Much   
   "Many" is use before plural and countable nouns."much" is use before uncountable nouns.we can use "many" for negative sentences as well as positive sentences .

Ex:- Don't eat to much sugar .
        He hasn't much money.
        I saw many people at the park yesterday .
        I didn't see many vans on the road.
  • Some / Any
We use "some"/"any" to express a certain amount .we can use some/any before plural or uncountable nouns.we use "some"implosive sentences but we use "any" in negative sentences.
Ex:- I have got some money-positive
          I have not got any money-negative
         She has some english novels.
         I saw some tourists at the hotel .
         There are some oranges in the box
         There are not any oranges in the box.
